Animals are harmless creatures that drop nothing and can be killed at the cost of karma and/or sanity.
Animals can be found in the weirdest of places, maybe when you come out of an air vent a small critter blocks your way. Critters can be found in almost every map throughout the game. The biggest exception of all is the Secreta HQ where no animal can be seen.
